a flaming skull...

a flaming skull...

no, don't worry, i'm not going all metal on you; this is another doodle from the pirate kitty meeting.

why so many doodles posted today ?

could it simply be because of the number of meetings i've had this week; or is it to assuage my guilt over sullying the purity of this blog by the rampant commercialism exhibited in the post plugging the shirtyberty online t-shirt shop?

i'll let you decide... as you take time to browse through some of the humorous designs on offer...

rockets and robots...

rockets and robots...

i know, not exactly a stylistic leap i'll give you that one; but i'm afraid this appears to be my default setting.

so the rocket is probably indication of a deep-seated desire to escape the meeting / job / planet that i find myself involved with.

the robot ? possibly my subconscious telling me to get that damn book finished and submitted to a publisher.

thirteen points on the agenda; maybe the meeting was cursed...

ahoy, pirate kitty...

ahoy, pirate kitty...

yes, it's been a week of meetings in the world of the doodler - dozens of pieces of actual work that need to be completed, so let's all sit around in a big room and talk about how many tasks we have to complete; and how we don't have nearly enough time to complete them; and maybe we should set up a meeting to ask for more time.

oh yes, this is my life...

www.shirtyberty.com

test

hi doodlers !

we all love t-shirts, right ?
and we all love clanging visual puns, yes ?
but we all wish that these two great loves could be brought together at one short memorable URL, agreed ?

well finally that search is over; i give you... shirtyberty.com

pun-laden tees are what they do best over there.

buy one for a loved one,
buy one for a friend,
buy one for an acquaintance,
hell, buy one for a complete stranger for all i care, just get over there and take a look around !

something standing on a birthday cake...

something standing on a birthday cake....

she does look disturbingly like a big toe with cute bear-like ears, though.

although the meeting in this instance was quite high level; and included some rather tough questioning - and unfortunately required me to take an active part! - i still managed to drift off for five minutes doodling this little lady; with the breathy tones of ms. monroe running through my mind.

..."happy birthday, mr president..."

a manga-style correspondent...

a manga-style correspondent is what appeared on the page on friday.

it was a meeting less formal than usual, hence the slightly involved, and, frankly, rococo execution.

...and there's a tentacled blob attacking the postbox for good measure.

i must've liked it, i even got the ol' blue highlighter out!

an all terrain robot of some kind...

an all terrain robot of some kind...

or at least that's how i'd describe it; however the person sitting next to me in this particular meeting tells me that she thought that i was drawing wall-e.

i do like this one, though. nice quality of line. it's that nice pen again... i've warned myself about that before!

easter island heads, maybe ...

easter island heads, maybe ...

i guess almost the opposite of the robots from yesterday ? this meeting had, once again, gone on too long; but not really that bad considering. i think that these doodles are simply due to the fact that i had a nice pen.

note to self, don't take nice pens to important meetings.

also, note to self, writing 'note to self' makes you look like a git!

robots...

robots...

dunno why the robots leapt into my psyche; however there were a great number of people in the meeting yesterday, many big-hitters within the organisation.

however i do quite like the look of it.

a steampunk rocketship !

a steampunk rocketship !

i knew that i'd scanned this somewhere, but had lost it on the hard drive up until today.

in a stunning departure from form we have another spaceship type doodle, but from a different era; so that makes a change, eh ?

in fact, come to think of it, it does look a little like something that the nazi-era portion of the hellboy comics might come up with.

once again son of meeting doodler ...

once again son of meeting doodler does the honours admirably.

in fact this great little 'alien in a transparent spaceship' doodle - oh yes, we've all done one of them - was produced for his uncle.

nothing recognisable from little l yet, but she's working on it !

an octopus surrounded by bubbles

an octopus surrounded by bubbles is what ended-up on the paper during the meeting that i was in the other day.

now this was either a random cephalopod that leapt to the end of my biro whilst my thoughts were elsewhere; or the image in some way relates to the workload of the mysterious 'monksy' alluded to above the doodle...

nice tentacles, though (as the actress said to the bishop)

i guess you could say...

i guess you could say that this is the antidote to a truly pointless meeting, scribbling all over the agenda with little arrows...

well, at least you could say that if you were trying to think of a pithy line for your blog.

my naturally sunny disposition

my naturally sunny disposition is shining through on this one (no pun intended, of course).

which is surprising really, because it was one dull meeting that i was roped into attending on someone else's behalf. great thing being that, because i had no interest in the subject whatsoever, and because there were enough people in the room to get lost in, i was able to concentrate fully on the matter in hand.

i'm not so sure about this one...

i'm not so sure about this one...

looks a little ghostly, i guess - but with an odd visceral, corporeal look to it ?

i did notice, when i was doodling away, that some of the shading pen-work is reminiscent of the famous dave gibbons' style. not sure why my hand felt the need to move in this way, something like 20 years after his drawing technique would've been at the forefront of my mind, i have no idea; unless it's the new movie, which i have yet to see?

anyway, there you have it !
