a robot chat-up line...

a robot chat-up line...

oh my, that was a loooooong meeting.

but i quite enjoyed it because i haven't had a good three hour window of time to concentrate on being unproductive for ages.

son of doodler gets in on the sponsorship deal...?

son of doodler gets in on the sponsorship deal...?

nope, but the boy has talent.

this is j's response to my previous doodle.

...he makes me so proud.

sponsored by subway...?

sponsored by subway...?

nope, unfortunately not (although i am open to offers - "your business napkin/headed stationery doodled-on here".)

anyhoo, what we appear to have here is a a godzilla-like confrontation between a badly-drawn box robot, and a huge lizard-like creature. set against your typical disaster-strewn city-scape.

...and encompassing some atypical oldenburgian giant tomatoes.

large-headed mannequin vehicles...

large-headed mannequin vehicles...

that seems to be the way in which this particular meeting went; not quite sure how though.

when i was scribbling away, though, it did occur to me that there were similarities to the giant alien spider that walked through the streets of liverpool a couple of years ago La Princess.

odd looking robot...

odd looking robot...

a couple of hours worth of meeting, and this is all I can muster? I put it down to my not feeling very well. sniff sniff cough.

another robot...

another robot...

but trying a blog post with my new android phone via 'blog away' makes the picture just a little more apt doncha think?

some underwater scene, it seems...

some underwater scene, it seems...

robot ? check

rocket ? check

tentacles ? check

so predictable i have descended into self parody, it appears.

robot looks a little like a duck, though, i think: and the rocket has those nose-cone fins that we've not seen before 'plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose' as a french bloke once said.

zzzt...

ok, i know, i know, it's another robot doodle.

but, you know what, i like robot doodles.

(and the people looking over my shoulder during this national conference last week seemed to like the giant robot attack, too).

ah, the wonder of the conference - no-one expects any input from you, they give you pads, pens and bowls of sweets on your table... frankly it'd be criminal NOT to doodle!

a dreaming crab...

a dreaming crab...

...and that crab, apparently dreams only of becoming a robot.

looks like a nice robot to me; can't say the same for the crab, though, i'm afraid. those red eyes look a little menacing to me... or maybe it's just that my pen didn't have the anti-red eye turned on.

rockets and robots...

rockets and robots...

i know, not exactly a stylistic leap i'll give you that one; but i'm afraid this appears to be my default setting.

so the rocket is probably indication of a deep-seated desire to escape the meeting / job / planet that i find myself involved with.

the robot ? possibly my subconscious telling me to get that damn book finished and submitted to a publisher.

thirteen points on the agenda; maybe the meeting was cursed...

an all terrain robot of some kind...

an all terrain robot of some kind...

or at least that's how i'd describe it; however the person sitting next to me in this particular meeting tells me that she thought that i was drawing wall-e.

i do like this one, though. nice quality of line. it's that nice pen again... i've warned myself about that before!

robots...

robots...

dunno why the robots leapt into my psyche; however there were a great number of people in the meeting yesterday, many big-hitters within the organisation.

however i do quite like the look of it.

a robot charging station...

a robot charging station, or something similar in this one.

j thinks that this is some sort of response to watching WALL-E recently, but i'm not so sure.

the meeting was a week or so ago, included some forced camaraderie - someone leaving the team - and continued a little too long.

...perfect for one such as i, who follows the ancient art of the doodle.

(must try to post more in 2009)

a simple one

a simple one, a cute little robot.

the 'phone pictures still aint the best, i grant you, but i do like the edge of the ring-bound pad with the wafer of desk beneath it.

you know me, i'm a bit of a one for the ol' robot doodle, and this one is similar to many penned before, however i still kinda like the proportion of eyes to head, and the legs too.

a driller-robot superhero battle

a driller-robot superhero battle was underway during the early stages of yesterday's first meeting.

by this point i gather that people sitting behind me in the lecture theatre were paying a little more attention to my doodles than i had realised.

at the end of this meeting i decided that i'd try to avoid my old staples of robots, tentacles, superheroes and rocket ships.

watch this space to see how successful i was at this goal...

a suicidal robot

a suicidal robot, or just one with slight vertigo... either way he appears uneasy.

so what actually happened was that the 10:30am lasted until 12:45, at which point i'd managed - rather impressively given the close proximity and formality of the gathering - to scribble down a few things which i quite like.

a few robot heads

a few robot heads.

nothing profound, or particularly impressive i'm afraid.

it's been rather busy in the office for the last week or so, all to do with diminishing resources in the team... turns out i'm actually finding myself busy, and i'm having to catch-up on work in meetings - rather than doodling away !

don't worry though, new resource on the horizon...

cute little giant robot

cute little giant robot.

i think that it was probably time for a robot doodle.

this little fella was probably just a bit too cute for inclusion on the crush all humans blog.

maybe some screaming hourdes would've helped.

robots, robots, robots

robots, robots, robots

we're in the throes of an office move here at work, and what should i find on someone else's desk but an old pad of mine.

so here's an old doodle, a tad rococo i feel, but to be fair i remember the meeting vividly - it was long and rather pointless.

a superhero battle

a superhero battle raging in the margins of my oh-so-riveting schedule printout.

this is a lovely introduction to the lovely new pen given to me by the lovely lady s; in actual fact it's one of her cast-offs, but it'll do nicely thank you. very nice to write and, more importantly doodle, with.

it's a uniball signo 0.7 for anyone who's interested in that kind of thing.

and, of course, every highlighter colour that i could find in the pathetic metal cabinet that passes for a stationery cupboard in my office.

hmm, note to self, 'must do horizontal doodles, must do horizontal doodles, must do horizontal doodles' .

horizontal doodle = less of my inane verbiage
