poor supes...
he appears to be trapped in some sort of confinement bubble.
...so what do we know?
1. the bubble appears to be controlled by the strange, smiley, decapitated-head creatures;
2. the bubble is uncharacteristically impervious to the localised shower of pins that surrounds it (either that or my shading method became a little rococo, and broke the third wall)
3. there appears to be another super-person hanging from a balloon !!!
4. i definitely had too much time on my hands in this meeting.
... i like the bubble though.
(keep on doodling superman, though; ego-problems, anyone?)
behind you, superman...
it was a week or so ago, but i do believe this was a 'phone doodle, with a little highlighter flourish at the end for colour.
is this me?
am i floating along oblivious to something large and threatening behind me?
is it better for me not to turn around in this situation?
long time, no post. i know, i know, how are you ?
hold on a minute... have you been working out or something, because you look great!
it's not only the increased workload that has impacted on my posts of late, although their frequency and intricacy have certainly been diminished as a result; no, it's the fact that it's a faff to hook-up my laptop, fire up the scanner, and get the damn things into electronic format.
so my solution - to which this post bears testimony - is to see if i can get away with taking pictures with my new mobile 'phone, digitisation on-the-fly if you will.
lets see how we all feel about the picture quality, shall we? looks a little fuzzy and dull to me, but maybe i just need to take the 'photo outdoors next time.
ok, lets see then, superman (no surprises there), a few stylised faces which appear to become a customised mac os logo - which i have a feeling that i might be using in the near future... watch this space !
mountaineers abound !
yes, there are a few things happening here, we appear to have some silhouetted mountaineers scaling the east face of a summary table of benefits, whilst a generic office-worker appears to be confused by something (maybe what he's seen through the wall of his office ?)
and we also have the first appearance of a 'super-flasher' accosting someone as they descend a staircase.
oh yes, it was a meeting that was blissfully free of anything either useful or conclusive for those present.
i enjoyed myself, though; that has to count for something!
low-flying superhero !
a new, much thicker, biro seems to be driving me to bigger doodles. not sure i like the larger canvas, though.
i'll try to get back on track with producing these things, but it's hectic at the moment - tomorrow is a 10:30, an 11:30, and a 12:30 with little or no prospect of any margins to fill. ho hum.
trick-or-treaters marauding down the margin of my page !
now this was a funny one. ordinarily i know when the doodles will hit me, or i have a pretty good idea at least.
you know how it is - you're walking to a meeting that you know is going to last a few hours, with more than half a dozen invitees who enjoy the sound of their own voices more than they would that of their chosen diety calling down to them from on-high... you know you might squeeze out a few doodles today.
however, today i rush to a meeting of sorts with two others, close proximity and little chance to merge into the background and 'phase out' to scribble away quietly to myself. and yet several doodles still managed to appear.

a chalk outline, looks like it's being investigated by a familiar looking fella with a kiss-curl.
i guess there's probably a connection with some residual image from the 'bruce wayne: murderer' comics, so apologies if i look like a plagiarist.
another floral affair, some little superheroes and an odd stripey crocodile.
just another day in the office.
a superhero battle raging in the margins of my oh-so-riveting schedule printout.
this is a lovely introduction to the lovely new pen given to me by the lovely lady s; in actual fact it's one of her cast-offs, but it'll do nicely thank you. very nice to write and, more importantly doodle, with.
it's a uniball signo 0.7 for anyone who's interested in that kind of thing.
and, of course, every highlighter colour that i could find in the pathetic metal cabinet that passes for a stationery cupboard in my office.
hmm, note to self, 'must do horizontal doodles, must do horizontal doodles, must do horizontal doodles' .
horizontal doodle = less of my inane verbiage
some kind of superhero search party
five minutes, a post-it and some highlighters later and look what a bored office worker can produce.
the 'superheroes in the middle-distance, looking on' theme seems to be developing, along with the old favourites of rocket ships and robots...
alien totem pole !
now this really did grow from nowhere, this grew from a relatively brief meeting about the department's office move about 1 mile down the road.
i guess the implied narrative is something along the lines of a charlton heston "god damn you all to hell!" moment - remnants of an old culture covered by the sands of time - viewed by a detached onlooker in this case...
it's not so divorced from the meeting in question after all !
a certain caped superhero, about to be set-upon by a giant robot foe.
again, obviously my delusions of grandeur are evident here - do i feel that i am the inherently good hero, and i am constantly battling against insurmountable odds.
...or maybe i was just reading a comic before i went to bed last night, and it was in my thoughts this morning.
(answers on a postcard, please !)
superpotato !
...in a galaxy far far away, a planetoid inhabited by spud-like superhero figures looks on.
dumpy superheroes, there aren't enough of them are there ?
you might recognise these guys; they kept me company during a three hour snore-fest which improved dramatically during the last hour ... but that may have had something to do with the arrival of the sandwich & crisp platters.
